Vipers fall to Silverbacks to start second half of season (Dec. 28)

The Vernon Vipers served up a holiday turkey to their fans Saturday night.

The Salmon Arm Silverbacks got two goals and one assist from Lucas Breault in a 5-2 win over the Vipers before a big crowd of 2,652 at Kal Tire Place.

It was the Vipers first game since Dec. 18, a 4-1 loss to the Trail Smoke Eaters.

Dawson Holt and Ben Hegelson scored for Vernon who fell to 19-15-1-1, four points back of the third place Silverbacks.

“We, once again, made key mistakes at key times, and we’re fighting it a bit right now. Coming off the break, we were trying to rejuvenize some things but were weren’t very sharp I didn’t think. Our whole group hasn’t been sharp, and when things don’t go our way, we try to do things on our own and it gets worse, and that’s what I saw tonight,” said Vipers head coach and GM Jason McKee on the Beach Radio post game show.

The teams square off again Sunday at 3 p.m. in Salmon Arm, a game you can hear on 107.5 Beach Radio.
