Update: Suspect arrested in assault and stabbing

Officers responded to an alleged assault at a residence on Cenntennial Drive around 10 p.m. Tuesday.

Officers responded to an alleged assault at a residence on Cenntennial Drive around 10 p.m. Tuesday.
“Upon arrival, front line officers learned that a male had broken into the home and allegedly attacked and stabbed another male occupant in the arm,” said Const.Kelly Brett.

“A 24 year old male, who sustained non-life threatening injuries, was transported to the nearest medical facility for treatment.”
Brett says officers quickly converged on another residence a few blocks away, where the suspect was known to live.
“The suspect was located and taken into custody without incident.This was a very targeted attacked involving all parties that are known to one another,” added Brett.
A 27 year old man from Vernon is in custody and is facing possible charges of break and enter with intent and assault causing bodily harm.

Several RCMP officers are on scene following reports of a possible stabbing at the Shaughnessy on Centennial.
According to dispatch reports, a 20-year old man is believed to be involved.

Police were spotted talking to a group of young adults at a nearby apartment building at around 10 p.m.
Police cruisers were also stationed along the 32nd Avenue and 35th Street heading towards Centennial Drive.
