Six Arrests After Assault

A 58 year old man suffered serious injuries after what police are calling a targeted assault in Vernon.

Police are not releasing many details, other than an incident occurred in the 3000 block of 28th Avenue Wednesday afternoon, and the victim is expected to recover.

Reports at the time indicated it was a stabbing, but Mounties don’t say that.

“On January 30th, 2019 just before 5 pm, the Vernon North Okanagan RCMP responded to a report of a 58-year-old male who suffered serious but non-life injuries as a result of an assault,” says Cst. Kelly Brett.

Officers were able to connect the incident to a home in the 1700 block of 33rd Street where the site was contained by multiple officers and six people were taken into custody without incident.

Three people remain in custody as police continue to investigate

“The Vernon North Okanagan RCMP investigators are currently in the early evidence gathering stages of their investigation and believe the occurrence was a targeted act.”
