Update: Police Locate UBCO Suspicious Person

Kelowna RCMP say they have located the man believed to be the subject of the UBCO safety alert.

The man has been released and is expected to appear in court.

They are asking the public not to contact them anymore if they see him. They would however like to speak to any additional witnesses.

UBC Okanagan is asking students to be extra vigilant of a suspicious person known to frequent the campus.

According to a campus alert put out by the school, the individual is known to approach women, engage in harassing behavior and make inappropriate and suggestive comments.

Bud Mortenson , Director of University Relations says the school received six complaints from students.

The man is described as a Caucasian male, 28 years old, 5’11”, with a  slim build, shoulder length sandy blond hair and a full beard. He is usually seen wearing multi-coloured toque, a blue sweater or bright green jacket.

Mortenson adds that the man is known to frequent the smoking gazebos and food outlets on campus.

A no trespass order has been implemented by campus security , and the situation has also been forwarded to the Kelowna RCMP.

Anyone who see’s the man is asked to call 9-1-1.

Officials with UBC Okanagan declined to disclose whether the man is a student at the school or his full identity.
