It’s not cheap to keep Vernon’s streets and public walkways clear of snow and ice.
The City says $922,000 was spent on snow and ice control last year, which was almost a quarter million dollars more than budgeted ($242,000).
The amount spent in 2017 was $747,000.
Manager of Roads, Drainage and Airport, Chris Ovens, says crews had to deal with 33 incidents in 2018, about a dozen more than the previous three years.
