Former Legion Could Become Pot Shop

Part of Vernon’s former Royal Canadian Legion site could become a private cannabis store.

City administration says in a report to council, the Coquitlam company that owns the downtown site on 31st Avenue has said it will be applying for a provincial license for a retail store, which would then go to the City for review and possible approval.

The owner plans to renovate the newer, commercial part of the building on 33rd Street for the pot shop on the north-east corner, and demolish the old part.

Additional new commercial space would be built along the 31st Avenue frontage, according to the owner’s representative.
