Negotiations between the City of Vernon and its unionized workforce are scheduled to get underway later this month.
The previous five year deal with about 240 members of CUPE Local 626 expired at the end of last year.
“We are looking forward to begin this work on a positive note, ” says City Communications Manager Nick Nilsen. “All sides are committed to developing and signing an agreement that benefits all parties. A joint statement between the City and CUPE 626 will be issued at that time.”
The last deal included a wage hike of 8.5% over the five year term.
