City Adds New Staff Position

City Adds New Staff Position

Jan 15, 2019 | 3:00 PM

The City of Armstrong is adding a new staff position to accommodate development in the community.

Council has approved funding for a full time planner, to complete a wetland master plan, and update the official community plan and zoning bylaws.

“And (provide) a higher level of on-site service that was affordable under a contract for service with a consultant,” says CAO Kevin Bertles in a memo to council.

Mayor Chris Pieper says they have hired contract planners the last few years, but the residential growth has created the need for the new position.

“A contract planner on a one day a week (basis) has not really worked out that well, and with the growth our community is going through, we’ve decided to hire a full time planner. It was put in the budget, and the budget was approved (Monday) night, so we’re going to go ahead with a full time planner,” Pieper tells Beach Radio News.
