Salvation Army Campaign Short of Goal

Jan 14, 2019 | 10:15 AM

The Vernon Salvation Army is not expecting any major impact after coming up short on its biggest fundraiser of the year.

The Christmas campaign raised $414, 680 through from kettle and mail donations, while the goal was $500,000.

Lt. Stefan Reid says despite not hitting the target, they are extremely pleased with the community support.

“First and foremost, we want to thank our community for their tremendous support. The funds that are raised at Christmas not only help out individuals and families during the holiday season but it provides much needed support all year round,” says Reid.

Reid says although the totals were down, programming and support will continue with minimal disruption to the community.

People are also reminded they can donate throughout the year by stopping by the House of Hope at 3303 32nd Ave.
