New Communications Plan

New Communications Plan

Dec 21, 2018 | 6:30 AM

The township of Spallumcheen is stepping up its communications with the public.

Mayor Christine Fraser says they want to be as transparent as they can, and a new policy will give clear direction to staff on the priority level for getting the information out to residents.

“It will give clear direction to staff if there are, for example, development cost charges coming out, or a new bylaw, or if something happens in the community, we’ll have different priorities for different items,” Fraser tells Beach Radio News. “The point of the policy is to be authentic and transparent.”

Fraser (pictured) says they want make sure taxpayers know what’s going on in the community.

“I think it will mean more communication to the public because any time there is a request for a decision on a matter from staff, it will have a communications priority set on it, so it will either be a 1, 2 or 3,” adds Fraser.

Fraser says for each communication level, there would be a proposed budget brought forward for the amount, depending on the size of the project.
