Ground Rules For Pot Edibles Introduced

Ground Rules For Pot Edibles Introduced

Dec 20, 2018 | 12:15 PM

Health Canada has laid out the ground rules for introducing cannabis edibles which could happen by next fall.

The proposed regulations deal with how marijuana-infused food, drinks and other products can be produced and sold.

The government wants packaging that doesn’t appeal to young people and limits the risk of over-consumption.

All packaging would have to be child-resistant and display the standard cannabis symbol with a health warning message.

The rules also propose limiting the amount of the psychoactive ingredient THC in the products.

Public input will be gathered until Feb 20th. Click HERE for more info.

“These proposed regulations under the Cannabis Act support our overarching goal of keeping cannabis out of the hands of youth and protecting public health and safety. We look forward to hearing the views of Canadians from across the country,” says Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Health.
