Lowe’s Closing 27 Stores, Many of Them RONA’s

Nov 5, 2018 | 10:20 AM

Lowe’s is closing 31 properties across Canada in a bid to streamline its operations.

The North Carolina based company says 27 stores will close in five provinces, some of them Rona’s, but the Rona’s in Vernon, Kelowna, and Salmon Arm are not affected.

Lowe’s will close two regional support centres in Ontario and Newfoundland, and a block plant in Kamloops.

The US retailer operates 68 Lowe’s and 430 Rona stores across Canada.

Only two of the locations being shut down are branded as Lowe’s, with both of those in Ontario. The rest are Ronas, the Quebec based chain that Lowe’s bought in 2016.

No word yet how many jobs will be impacted.
