Rockets look to end winless skid in Portland

Oct 30, 2026 | 9:01 AM

The Kelowna Rockets will try to snap a four-game winless streak Saturday when they visit the Portland Winterhawks for a 3 p.m. Halloween matinee.

Kelowna (4-3-2-3) is coming off a tough weekend in Victoria, earning a point in a 5-4 shootout loss Friday before falling 4-1 Saturday. The Rockets have gone 0-1-0-3 in their past four games, with three losses coming in shootouts.

Jakub Frolo leads Kelowna with 11 points, while Tomas Poletin and Jacob Henderson have five goals apiece. Madden Daneault, the team’s second-leading scorer with 10 points in eight games, will be away representing Canada White at the under-17 World Challenge.

Special teams remain a concern, particularly on the road. Kelowna’s power play is operating at 9.52 per cent away from home, while its road penalty kill sits at 71.43 per cent.

The Rockets have split their first two meetings with Portland this season, winning 3-2 in overtime Oct. 16 before losing 3-2 in a shootout five days later. Kelowna earned points in all four matchups last season and will look to get back in the win column Saturday.
