Prescribed burn scheduled for area near Lavington

Provincial firefighting crews will be doing a fire risk mitigation project in the North Okanagan as early as this week.

The B.C. Wildfire Service will be undertaking a prescribed burn at a 40 hectare site in the Harvey Lake Reservoir area near Lavington.

The burn could begin as early as Thursday, weather and site conditions permitting.

The work will produce smoke visible to the surrounding area, but the BCWS assures the public it will be carefully controlled and monitored.
