Aug 12, 2026 | 10:57 AM

Major road work projects will disrupt traffic in the Alexis Park area for the coming weeks.

Starting Thursday, August 13, 39th Avenue will be closed during construction hours for a culvert rehabilitation project.

The road will be closed Friday and Saturday, and then closed August 17 to 22, and on the 24th. Work will continue without closures following those dates with the goal of having the work completed by September 4.

The city said it’s crews and the contractors would try to minimize impacts the work has on traffic.

Meanwhile, the roundabout project at the intersection of 43rd Avenue and Alexis Park Drive was making progress, and expected to be completed in early September.

The work would also be planned around the Vernon Farmers’ Market, through that brings more traffic to the area and people were advised to plan their commutes in advance and be prepared for slow-downs during those times.

Motorists were also reminded to be cautious of workers and equipment and obey all traffic control measures when driving through work sites.
