High Fatal Overdose Risk

An alert has been issued for a street drug found in Vernon.
Interior Health said a substance that has a white, chunky look being sold in Vernon as crystal meth or methamphetamine has been found to contain undiluted p-fluorofentanyl.
P-fluorofentanyl is an opioid that can be twice as strong as fentanyl, posing a high risk of overdose or fatal overdose for users.
People were advised to have their drugs checked before using, the service is available at the Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy; to use at a Overdose Prevention Site downtown; to not mix with other substances including alcohol; to never start with a small amount and wait before taking more; space out doses; and carry and know how to use Naloxone.
