Snowshoer rescued near Big White thanks in part to search and rescue teams
The local search and rescue team played a key role in helping rescue a snowshoer who went missing in the Black Forest area of Big White.
In a social media post, Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) said it was called out to assist Big White Ski Patrol and the RCMP search for the person at around 6 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 30.
The organization said it worked in tandem with Big White Ski Patrol and the RCMP, and their coordinated efforts led to the missing snowshoer being located and safely brought back to civilization.
“We would like to remind the public to follow the advice on Adventure Smart: pack the 10 essentials, leave a trip plan, and get some training,” COSAR’s Duane Tresnich said in its post.
