A Boil Water Notice has been issued for several properties off Highway 97 in the North Okanagan.

The Regional District of North Okanagan issued the notice for properties on Stepping Stones Crescent and Stepping Stones Road Tuesday, Dec. 16, after a power outage caused a loss of water pressure in the system.

The notice will be in place until sample testing shows the water’s disinfection levels are within the safe drinking standard.

Until then, affected residents are advised to bring their water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking; using to prepare food or drink, including ice and baby formula; and brushing their teeth.

People may also experience air in their pipes or discouloured water due to the reduced water pressure. In these instances people should run their cold tap until the water turns clear, with the RDNO advising people do this using an outdoor tap.
