Vernon looking at UBCM Grant for emergency support training, equipment

Nov 9, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The City of Vernon is looking at outside funding options to help boost its emergency response capabilities.

A report to Vernon City Council asks that the city apply for a grant of up to $30,000 through the Union of B.C. Municipalities Community Emergency Preparedness Fund – Emergency Support Services Equipment and Training program.

If approved, the city would then use the funds to purchase new equipment and train volunteers for Vernon’s Emergency Support Services. It was not specified qhat equipment the service needed, or how many volunteers required training.

Council will be presented with the request at the regular meeting Monday, Nov. 10.
