Kelowna Chamber praises federal plan to support Canadian industries
The Kelowna Chamber of Commerce is praising federal measures announced by Prime Minister Mark Carney on Friday to protect, grow, and transform Canada’s strategic industries.
The plan includes a $5 billion Strategic Response Fund, a Buy Canadian policy, and added support for farmers and businesses. Chamber officials say these initiatives will help local companies modernize, protect jobs, and explore new markets.
The federal government is also creating a Major Projects Office in Calgary to fast-track large infrastructure projects and improve collaboration with Indigenous communities. Local businesses are already adapting by modernizing, training staff, exploring new markets, and improving efficiency to meet growing demand.
The Kelowna Chamber will introduce new policies at its national AGM in October, focusing on aerospace growth and support for young farmers, aligning with the federal strategy.
