Outside funding going to support Vernon’s green spaces
The City of Vernon is getting some financial aid to ensure natural spaces are maintained and protected.
The Union of B.C. Municipalities (UBCM) will provide $24,300 to support Vernon’s Natural Asset Management Planning process.
Natural assets consists of items ranging from wetlands to forests to lakes and ponds. These can act as an alternative to built infrastructure in providing valuable services such as stormwater management, urban heat reduction, improved air quality, and recreation space.
The funds from UBCM will be used to complete the remaining phased of the Natural Asset Management Planning process, which includes developing a Natural Asset Management Plan to guide the long-term stewardship of Vernon’s natural assets.
