After suffering through months of delays last year, it looks like motorists can look forward to a permanent fix to the rockslide area on Highway 97 near Summerland, but it’ll take 18 months to finish.
A $23-million contract has been awarded to complete the next phase of repairs on Highway 97 which will include a retaining wall, catchment area and concrete wall.
The slide happened in August 2023.
The Ministry of Transportation said long-term stabilization work will return the highway to its original four-lane configuration.
