Stolen Alberta boat recovered in Kelowna

Kelowna RCMP have recovered a fancy, $100,000 boat that was stolen three years ago.

Officers were conducting a marine patrol at the Bernard Avenue marina this past holiday weekend when they spotted the 25-foot vessel.

It was returned to its rightful owner and the person in the boat at the time of the seizure was detained then released.

An investigation is underway.

“This is a great example of how proactive policing and partnerships help to return property to people regardless of how long time has passed,” Cpl. Guillaume Tanguay of the Proactive Enforcement Unit said in a media release.

“Police received information from a partner agency that the boat may be on the water in Kelowna and with a keen eye were able to successfully return the boat to its rightful owner with minimal damage.”
