New section of Grey Canal Trail opened

A new 4.5 kilometre stretch of the Grey Canal Trail has opened.

The new section of the trail connects Coldstream Valley Estates to Warren Road and offers a view of the Coldstream valley.

The land for this trail was acquired by the Regional District of North Okanagan (RDNO) from Coldstream Ranch Ltd. as part of an agreement that balances public recreation with agricultural operations. Through this agreement, the trail may be temporarily closed to allow for safe movement of cattle between the ranch’s summer and winter ranges.

“We’re thrilled to add this beautiful new section to the Grey Canal Trail system,” Bob Fleming, Chair of the RDNO Greater Vernon Advisory Committee said.

“We encourage trail users to come out, enjoy the fresh air, and take in the spectacular views—while also respecting adjacent agricultural operations.”

The RDNO reminded trail users to obey temporary closures during cattle movements, stay on designated trails and do not trespass on adjacent lands, keep dogs on leash and under control, and pack out all garbage.
