Apr 7, 2025 | 10:05 AM

West Kelowna RCMP have opened a missing person investigation for a person last seen in the area of the Westside Road landslide last week Tuesday night.

Police in that area have located unique items associated to the missing person and Central Okanagan Search and Rescue (COSAR) will be continuing the search for additional items Monday and Tuesday morning. Their name is not being released.

Following last week’s landslide, the RDCO said no injuries had been reported. COSAR had reported they had cleared the area after a search.

Meanwhile, there was further frustration for residents impacted by the landslide.

The stretch of Westside Rd. between Main Street and Denison Road had reopened to single land traffic Sunday, a day earlier than intially expected, but as of 8:30 a.m. Monday morning it was closed again because of the weather.

The RDCO said heavy rainfall prompted the latest closure.

Crews had worked over the weekend on cleanup and culvert work following the April 1 washout.

Drive BC said they’d have a further update late Monday afternoon.

this afternoon.

The ministry and its maintenance contractor will be monitoring the site closely 24 hours a day until works are complete.

The ministry will provide updates about the schedule for the full reopening of the road as the work progresses.
