Almost two dozen properties Willow Drive have been placed under a Water Quality Advisory.

The advisory was issued for 20 properties by Greater Vernon Water Thursday, March 27, following a water main break in the South Vernon neighbourhood.

GVW said the break caused increased turbidity and a loss of water pressure, and advised people in the affected area to bring water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking; using to make food or drink, including ice and baby formula; and brushing teeth.

The water main break may have caused affected properties to have air in their pipes or discoloured water. In these cases, people were advised to run their cold taps until the water turns clear. It was recommended this be done using an outdoor tap if possible.

The advisory will be lifted after sample testing showed the disinfection levels were within the safe drinking range.
