Removing the Tax on April 1

Consumer carbon tax in B.C. to be eliminated in April

Mar 25, 2025 | 3:53 PM

The consumer carbon tax in British Columbia is being eliminated.

The B.C. Government will introduce legislation Monday, March 31, to remove the consumer carbon tax effective April 1.

This will align with the removal of the federal carbon tax on consumers.

The province said it was contacting fuel sellers and natural gas retailers Tuesday, March 25, to tell them to stop collecting the tax from consumers as of April 1, and expects those sellers to make every effort to ensure the tax was not charged on purchases as of that date.
