In 2024, Beem Credit Union generously supported our Burnaby Diabetes Sports Camp, providing crucial funding that helped us supply the necessary equipment and materials for a safe and enriching camp experience. We are truly grateful for their partnership. The feedback from camp surveys was overwhelmingly positive, with 94% of participants reporting that the camp empowered them to live well with diabetes, and 80% sharing that their self-esteem had increased as a result of attending.

It’s moments like these that make us incredibly proud to be part of the North Okanagan community. On Wednesday, young Ryan Campbell arrived at VJH with his mom to donate his birthday money to Cancer Care, saying, “I don’t want any more kids to lose their parents, grandparents, or elders.”Ryan never had the chance to meet two of his grandfathers who passed away from cancer. So, for his 9th birthday on March 8th, instead of presents, he asked his friends to contribute to Cancer Care at VJH. He raised $140, which his parents matched and, with a last-minute donation, the total reached an even $300!Ryan’s kindness and generosity remind us all of the power of giving.
