Three prescribed burns will happen over a two-day period.

The B.C. Wildfire Service will conduct a fuel management project at Ellison Park Tuesday, March 18.

That will involve clearing and burning forest fire fuels in the park.

The BCWS will also work with Vernon Fire Rescue Services Tuesday to conduct fuel management work in an area by Longacre Drive and Apollo Road that will also include prescribed burns.

Those projects could result in smoke being visible in and around Vernon.

On Wednesday, March 19, the BCWS will partner with the Lake Country Fire Department to do a prescribed burn near Jack Seaton Park.

The BCWS said these projects will remove forest fire fuels, reduce the long-term risk of intense fires, and provide cross-training opportunities between local and provincial firefighting agencies.
