Construction of Vernon’s new roundabout to start Monday
Vernon’s newest traffic control measure will start being built next week.
The City of Vernon said crews will begin construction of the roundabout at Pleasant Valley Road and 39th Avenue as early as Monday, Mar. 10.
The roundabout will replace the existing four-way stop with the city saying it will improve traffic flow, reduce congestion, and increase pedestrian safety. The roundabout will also feature a dedicated left-turn lane from Pleasant Valley Road to 20th Street in order to minimize delays and reduce the risk of rear-end collisions.
Along with building the roundabout, crews will be upgrading underground utilities; installing new street and crossing lights; building gutters, curbs and retaining walls; and putting down anti-skid pavement to address downhill speeds.
