Vehicle destroyed in fire Tuesday morning linked to break and enter

A second vehicle linked to a crime in the past three days has been destroyed by a fire.

The City of Vernon said Vernon Fire Rescue responded to a report of a vehicle fire in a parking lot on 19th Avenue at approximately 7:02 a.m. Tuesday, March 4.

Crews arrived and found the vehicle fully engulfed in flames, and worked to extinguish the blaze.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the fire Tuesday morning.

The scene was then turned over to the RCMP.

Vernon North Okanagan RCMP said the vehicle was allegedly involved in a break-in that occurred earlier in the morning at a business in the 3400-block of 32nd Ave.

Police said investigators were working to determine the circumstances surrounding the incidents, and reviewing surveillance footage from the areas.

The RCMP asked that anyone with information about the incidents, or anyone who witnessed suspicious activity in these areas, contact the RCMP at 250-545-7171.

The most recent incident came just days after police said a pick-up truck was stolen in Vernon, then allegedly used in a break-in in Lumby, rammed police vehicles, and was set on fire on Centennial Drive.

Police told Vernon Matters there was no evidence to indicate these cases were connected.
