Feb 19, 2025 | 4:23 PM

UPDATE: 4 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24

Greater Vernon Water rescinded it’s Precautionary Boil Water Notice for properties on Heritage Court, Heritage Place and Allenby Way Monday, Feb. 24.

GVW stated sample testing showed the system’s water had disinfection levels within the safe drinking standard.

A Boil Water Notice was issued for select properties in the South Vernon neighbourhood Wednesday, Feb. 19.

Greater Vernon Water issued the notice for all addresses on Heritage Court, for 5471 to 5512 Heritage Drive, and for 3001 Allenby Way after a water main break caused a loss of pressure and increased turbidity in the water.

Under the notice, people in the affected area were advised to bring tap water to a roiling boil for a full minute before drinking, using to make food or drink including ice and baby formula, and brushing teeth.

The water main break may result in people seeing low water pressure or discoloured water coming from their taps. In those cases, people were advised to run the cold water until the pressure returns and the water runs clear.

GVW will rescind the notice once testing showed the water quality to be back within drinking standards.
