Power Poles Being Moved

Pre-construction of new roundabout in Vernon to begin next week

Feb 7, 2025 | 6:00 AM

The City of Vernon said pre-construction work at the site of a new roundabout will begin as early as Monday.

B.C. Hydro crews were scheduled to start moving power poles at the intersection of Pleasant Valley Road and 39th Avenue in the week of February 10, noting the work could take to Feb. 21 to complete.

As the poles are relocated, traffic will be reduced to a single, alternating lane. The city said drivers should expect minor delays while the work is underway, adding motorists should be cautious when driving through the work zone.

Construction of the new roundabout was scheduled to start in March and be completed by the fall of 2025, with the city noting this will benefit the community with the new traffic control measure along with new street lighting, a pedestrian-controlled lighted crosswalk, anti-skid pavement, and drainage and sanitary improvements.
