One of the big local events in support of  youth mental health services will be held this weekend.

Ride Don’t Hide will be hosted by the Vernon and District Canadian Mental Health Association Sunday, June 9 at Polson Park.

Registration opens at 8 a.m., with the event starting at 9 a.m.

“We have been overwhelmed by the response so far to Ride Don’t Hide and the number of participants is increasing steadily,” Julia Payson, CMHA Vernon & District executive director, said. “Ride Don’t Hide is a tremendous opportunity to support vital mental health services for youth and families here in the North Okanagan. We hope to see you there.”

Cyclists and non-cyclists can take part in the event which features six routes ranging from 1.2 to 50 kilometres. You can ride or walk as an individual or as part of a team.

“We have routes close to Polson Park that are ideal for young families while experienced cyclists will navigate routes along scenic farms and orchards in Coldstream,” Payson added.

Ride Don’t Hide will also include booths promoting local organizations, kids’ activities and a barbecue for participants.
