People looking to buy local food and goods directly from the source will have their opportunity once again.

The Vernon Farmers’ Market is set to hold its opening day Thursday, April 18, with organizers telling Vernon Matters there will be over 40 vendors on site to start the season.

“For farmers right now, we have a few attending with winter crops and greens, micro greens and plants,” Frances Callaghan, market coordinator, said in an email.

“You will also find eggs, cheese, poultry and pork as well. One of our honey vendors will be attending too.”

This will be the 45th season of the Vernon Farmers’ Market, and Callaghan said there has been more new vendors, including small businesses, joining the market this year.

She added the market may celebrate its 45th birthday with a party in July, and there will be more focus on festivals and promoting the market as a shopping experience to enjoy this season.
