People travelling between the Okanagan and Vancouver Island will have more options soon.

Kelowna International Airport (YLW) and Pacific Coastal Airlines announced that a new direct route will be established between Kelowna and Comox.

The new service is set to take flight on June 25, 2024.

“The announcement of this new direct flight to Comox means yet another link for Kelowna to Vancouver Island, which further enhances regional connectivity and provides more opportunities for economic growth. It also aligns with YLW’s commitment to providing more efficient and seamless travel options to our residents and visitors,” Kelowna Mayor Tom Dyas said.

“I am grateful to our long-standing partnership with Pacific Coastal Airlines as our city continues to grow and our airport evolves.”

The flights, served by a Beechcraft 1900 aircraft, will be offered once a day from Sunday through Friday.

Flights will leave Kelowna at 8:45 a.m. and arrive in Comox at 9:55 a.m., with the return flights scheduled to depart Comox at 10:20 a.m. and land in Kelowna at 11:30 a.m.

“We are thrilled to partner with Pacific Coastal Airlines to launch new direct flights to Comox and provide more options for our passengers as we continue to grow the network between Vancouver Island and the Okanagan region,” Sam Samaddar, YLW Chief Executive Officer, stated.

“Vancouver Island is a popular destination for Okanagan residents, for both business and leisure, and we look forward to welcoming Comox Valley visitors to our region as well.”

Pacific Coastal has been flying out of YLW for the past 11 years and also offers flights to 16 other communities out of YLW.

The airline stated it would mark the addition of the Comox route by offering passengers who book a flight by April 21, 2024, with a 20 per cent discount by using the promo code KELCOM.
