The price for fuel in Kelowna jumped just before the Easter long weekend.

The fuel price tracking website Gas Buddy reported the average price per litre of regular gasoline in the city was $1.74.9 Thursday, March 28.

That price marked a 13 per cent hike at the pump from Wednesday’s average.

It was also up 11 cents on a weekly basis, 17 cents from the previous month, and 10.5 cents from the same day in 2023.

The 13 cent increase at the pumps comes in ahead of the federal carbon tax increase Monday, April 1, which is expected to translate to a three cent increase at the pumps across the country.

As of time of publication, the average price for fuel in Vernon was $1.67.9, which was unchanged on a daily and weekly basis. That price was up eight cents from the previous month, and four cents more than the average recorded the same date in 2023.
