The non-profit society that organizes the annual music and slo-pitch festival in Vernon is once again looking to give away some of its proceeds to help the community.

The Funtastic Sports Society’s community grant program is now accepting applications for 2024.

“Our mission is “Building a Better Community through Sport,” and the Funtastic Sports Society proudly invites qualifying community groups to submit applications,” President Jamie Austin said. “This year marks the 38th year that Funtastic has contributed back to the community through its donations and grant program.”

Austin said since the grant program got its start in 2009, more than $275,000 has been donated to support non-profit sport, recreation, and community organizations of a sport nature serving the Greater Vernon region.

The society is looking for applicants with projects that will support the growth of sport and recreation in the region.

“Funtastic is proud to be able to support local sports organizations through grants that cover such things as equipment and capital costs for sports related activities,” Austin stated.

The applications and criteria are available on the Funtastic website.

The deadline for applications is May 30, 2024

People can support the grant program by purchasing a raffle ticket or 50/50 ticket that will be on sale soon with the draws taking place June 29/30.

Funtastic A&W Music tickets are available with pricing from $40-$60/night or $100/weekend. A full line up of the bands and other information is available on the Funtastic website.
