Some Greater Vernon students are being recognized for their efforts to make the Vernon Winter Carnival parade extra special.
St. James Elementary School has won Carnival’s Christel Cam Memorial Award for having the parade entry with the most spirit, enthusiasm and fun.
Students and staff at the school presented a float with a Minecraft theme in Saturday’s parade.
“Hundreds of votes from Vernon came in over the weekend and we are so pleased to award this school with the $500 cash prize and trophy,” Carnival executive director Kris Fuller said.
