Singh wins BC United nomination for Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream

Nov 25, 2023 | 8:50 PM

BC United Party members have chosen their candidate for the Kelowna-Lake Country-Coldstream riding for the next provincial election.

Pavneet (Happy) Singh, a Kelowna business owner, was selected as the candidate for the riding that has been held since 2009 by BC Liberal/BC United MLA Norm Letnick who decided not to run again.

“Since arriving in the Okanagan as an international student twenty years ago, I have transitioned from working as a dishwasher, to a successful employer and small business owner here in Kelowna,” Singh said on his website.

Binny Boparai, Bal Grewal and Amanda Shatzko were the other candidates.

Vote totals were not released.

“Members had the opportunity to cast their ballots throughout the day in both Kelowna and Oyama for their preferred candidate, which saw over 50 per cent of the eligible members vote,” a news release from BC United said.

The newly-aligned riding includes parts of Kelowna-Lake Country and Vernon-Monashee.

The next provincial election is scheduled for October 2024.
