Housing, child care building at OC Vernon progressing

Progress is being made on the construction at the Okanagan College Vernon Campus.

Work began on the new student housing and child care building in April 2023, and a spokesperson for the college (OC) told Vernon Matters the project is on schedule and on budget.

OC has set up a “construction camera” to provide a live feed of the work.

It’s expected the facility, which will be able to house 100 students and provide child care services for 44 children, will be ready for use by the fall of 2024.

OC had previously told Vernon Matters it planned to apply for $10/day childcare at the new facility, though the representative of the college did not have an update on the application for that service.
