Bee kind to your air conditioner in the heat of the summer
The temperatures are soaring higher and higher and your air conditioning unit is working harder and harder.
We asked Bee’s Knee’s Plumbing, Heating and Electrical owner Kevin Ukkonen for some advice on how to get the most out of your air conditioning.
“People will wait until they get home from work to turn on their air conditioner, if you wait until it is 35 or 40 degrees and then turn your A/C on its going to take a long time for your house to get cool.” Ukkonen said.
You should set your temperature before you go to work and then when you get home it will be nice and cool.
“The other thing is you are going to want to change your filter, that has to be something that is done in the summer not just in the fall and you are also going to want to make sure your registers are open. If you have too many registers closed in the house, like you are trying to prevent cool air from going downstairs, that may cause the equipment not to perform optimally,” Ukkonen noted.
Closing blinds during the heat of the day can also help your A/C unit. The sun streaming through windows is a factor in heating up the home’s interior.
