More homes in Parker Cove put on evacuation order and alert

Dozens more homes have been evacuated or put on evacuation alert in the Parker Cove neighbourhood northwest of Vernon.

The Okanagan Indian Band added more homes on Falcon Avenue along with residents on Raven Road along Saskatoon Road to the evacuation order Tuesday.

Homes on four other streets in the community on the west side of Okanagan Lake are now on evacuation alert due to the flooding danger posed by the raging Whiteman’s Creek.

The band is describing the flooding as a “once in 200 year event.”

The reception centre for evacuees has a new location today, in a building adjacent to the band office at 12420 Westside Road, opening at 10:30 a.m.
