Cache Creek flooding worsens to ‘disaster’

May 3, 2023 | 3:35 PM

The flooding situation in Cache Creek, west of Kamloops, has worsened since Tuesday (May 2).

Flood waters are now running through a motel parking lot and directly through the local fire department hall.

Mayor John Ranta says it’s no longer an emergency situation — it’s a disaster.

Work is underway on Highway 97 where crews are looking to shore up the sides of the bank to prevent further erosion.
