Vernon cidery ready for first full season with new restaurant

What started with humble beginnings as a cidery at a Vernon family orchard ten years ago, has grown into a full restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating, and a full kitchen.

Cambium Cider Co. on East Vernon Road is now open and looking forward to the season ahead.

The business (formerly called The BX Press Cidery) has grown beyond what owners Dave and Missy Dobernigg could have ever dreamt when starting to make cider 10 years ago on Dave’s third generation family orchard.

“I remember stating quite strongly a few years back that I would “never have a restaurant here” Missy laughed. “It’s true you should ‘never say never. What we have grown to is very unique, and we are excited to share it with the people of Vernon and area visitors.”

Dobernigg is grateful to have brought a business partner on board, one with decades of culinary experience in Okanagan winery kitchens and abroad.

With co-owner and chef Christian Scott at the helm of the new restaurant, the team offers a unique dining experience showcasing a variety of satisfying share plates, wood-fired pizza, creative main courses, and decadent desserts.

“We really do have something for everyone – whether a quick casual bite or a leisurely fine dinner; we have a new menu and a fully stocked bar with not only cider, but quality beer, wine, cocktails, and non-alcoholic options. Less than five minutes from the north end of Vernon, we hope to welcome both familiar and new faces through the doors,” Missy said.

Open Wednesday to Sunday from 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., walk-ins are always welcome, with reservations recommended for the popular Friday – Sunday evening for full dinner service with dishes including flame-grilled rack of lamb, wood-fired beef, homemade pasta, and pizza cooked in their wood-fired oven.
