Serving up insurance in former restaurant

The sign outside Bracken Insurance Service -Co-operators still has Pint and Pie on it, but the only thing being served up inside is insurance.

The building, on 32nd Street (Highway 97), was extensively renovated to convert it for office use, with the staff moving in last month.

“Most of the interior was redone. We left the washrooms and kept the bar which we incorporated into our reception desk. All new glass wall offices. Staff room and kitchen set up. I also kept the “satellite” bar in the upper section in my office for a coffee bar,” owner Dale Bracken told Vernon Matters.

The office areas are bright and open with glass walls.

“Once we got in and set up, I was a bit surprised at how large the work stations and offices are. Particularly the upper offices – mine and two others. They’re huge,” Braken said. A significant departure from the former 27 th Street location which was a smaller footprint and had limited parking.

The new location also offers a lot more exposure on the busiest roadway in Vernon.

“I highly believe it will, and this was a major factor in decision to move. Unfortunately, as you noted, we are still waiting for signage. So I don’t believe our actual “visibility” has been much as of yet. However we are busier than ever in what is supposed to be our quieter season so perhaps even without signage the visibility is better,” Bracken added.

Visuals play a big part of the interior design of the building with works from local artist Jordan Perkins adorning the walls.
