Port Okanagan development launches on Vernon’s waterfront

Jan 4, 2023 | 4:00 PM

Three lots in the Port Okanagan development at the corner of Okanagan Landing and Lakeshore roads in Vernon have been listed for sale by Kelowna based HM Commercial Group.

The company has one multi-family and two mixed use parcels for sale ranging in price from $2.9 million to $5.4 million.

Vernon council has been working for several years to bring the 16-acre site to the development stage. The waterfront neighborhood centre plan envisions a village style project featuring up to 700 residences, a hotel and conference centre and retail shops.

“Becoming a destination true to its roots, this village will become affectionately known as The Port. The design theme was inspired by history, water and wood. Natural materials, clean finishes and warm wood tones will flow throughout the development, creating a welcoming and cohesive feel,” HM Commercial Group stated in promotional documents.

Each resort and commercial parcel will be linked via wooden boardwalks with several locations to sit.

Avillia Developments has worked with the City of Vernon to negotiate the riparian areas (wetlands and natural areas), and a trail network that connects the lots and leads to the shoreline.
