The Armstrong-Spallumcheen Chamber of Commerce has a new leader at the helm.

The Chamber held its annual general meeting Wednesday evening at the Armstrong Royal Canadian Legion, electing Lori Shepherd of BDO as president. She takes over from Sean Newton of Haney House, who will now serve as past president.

“We have had an excellent year: 183 members, including 21 new members and a 95 per cent retention rate, which is the highest for any chamber of commerce in B.C.” Chamber manager Patti Noonan stated in her report.

The organization also landed nearly $407,000 in various grants with total revenue of $481,674 compared to $233,633 in 2021.

On the service side, 21,547 people visited www.aschamber.com, with 51 per cent clicking on the business directory. Staff also fielded 13,601 phone calls.

In the area of business support and community involvement, 89 workshop opportunities for member improvement were held, and directors and staff sat on 23 committees and task-forces.

The chamber has five full and part-time staff and 68 volunteers.
