Vernon businesses invited to enjoy The View

Accelerate Okanagan is hoping more Vernon business owners will enjoy the VIEW (Vernon Innovation and Entrepreneur Workspace) on Tuesday evening.

That’s when the organization will open the doors to the Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce’s Business After Five networking event.

The VIEW offers the opportunity to connect and collaborate with like-minded professionals in a modern workspace with all the amenities needed to do business.

The facility, next to Martens Brew Pub on 30th Avenue, provides a variety of options from hot-desking (one day desk use) to monthly rental of a desk or private office. Prices range from $50 for a hot-desk, up to having a private office, with all the amenities to run a business. Meeting rooms are also available for booking.

Monthly rentals also require a membership in Accelerate Okanagan.

Renters get a dedicated desk, chair and lockable filing cabinet, printer, WiFi, and casting access, physical mailing address, fully-stocked shared kitchen, welcome reception and lounge, secure key fob entry, access to a network of mentors, access to events and training opportunities.

The idea came out of a grassroots movement to accelerate the growth of the entrepreneurial ecosystem in the North Okanagan. The goal was to create a centrally-located innovation centre where entrepreneurs and businesses can connect, collaborate and commercialize their ideas. Over the years, this initiative has been driven by many partners including local business owners, community members, the City of Vernon, and Community Futures of the North Okanagan.

Funding and support is provided by Western Economic Diversification and Community Futures of the North Okanagan.

Greater Vernon Chamber of Commerce members are invited to attend the “Business After Five” networking event Tuesday (Nov. 15) from 5 – 7 p.m.
