Joe Rich fire department looking for recruits

Joe Rich Fire Rescue is looking to hire some new members.

The department, located east of Kelowna on Highway 33, is in need of new members to assist with first medical response and fire suppression services.

Anyone who lives in the area and is interested in becoming a paid on-call firefighter for the department is encouraged to take part in a recruitment information session.

The sessions will take place on Sept. 7–8 at the Joe Rich Fire Hall.

The sessions will include a short presentation about the work the Joe Rich Fire Department does to serve the community, followed by a question-and-answer period.

Anyone interested in attending the sessions can email joerichfirecommunity@rdco.com and provide the fire department their name, phone number and email address. Applications and recruitment information is also available on the Regional District of Central Okanagan’s website.

Interviews for potential candidates will follow later, and successful applicants will be provided with regular training opportunities.

Joe Rich Fire Services also has a Junior Firefighter program for youths aged 16 to 18. People can email the fire hall for more information on that program as well.
